Education and Polar Science in Action - Cambridge 2019

Hi everyone,

A great workshop/event is coming to Cambridge this year led by Polar Educators International and in partnership with us here at UKPN as well as SPRI, BAS and SCAR.

https://polareducator.org/events/conferences/cambridge-2019/

The conference runs 8-11th April 2019 (flyer attached) and is a chance for researchers and educators to come together and discuss how we communicate science and connect people with the poles. There are plans for some great workshops on science communication, as well as a chance for you to pitch your research ‘elevator pitch’ and get feedback from educators as to how to make it better for the general public/school kids etc. It should be a great opportunity to form some new networks, and if you’ve any budding outreach ideas, an ace way to get some feedback and develop those ideas. They’ll be folks from SPRI, SCAR and BAS there too.

Registration for this is now open – see the Eventbrite page here :)

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pei-2019-education-and-polar-science-in-action-registration-50821391149

Early bird price until 14th January

They’re also looking for some volunteers to help with set up/registration (you’ll still be able to participate fully in the conference). Should be another chance to open up more networking opportunities and they’ll be funding available to support volunteers. Get in touch with lead organiser Sophie Weeks (sophie.weeks@gmail.com) if you’re interested in being a volunteer.

Please pass onto your networks too,

Cheers

Anna
