UK Arctic Science Conference (Abstract deadline 31 July!)

Dear all,

Please find information below about the UK Arctic Conference held in Oban this September.

********************************

UK Arctic Conference, 19-21 September, Oban – 31 July deadline for abstracts

The 2017 Arctic Conference will be hosted by SAMS in Oban (19-21 September 2017). This is the UK’s foremost inter-disciplinary Arctic science conference and it only happens once every two years. It is a great opportunity to present your work and make an impact across the UK’s research community. Abstracts are welcome under any of the five International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) science theme areas. Submissions highlighting inter-disciplinary connections will be particularly welcome, as will the participation of early career researchers. The deadline for abstract submission is 31 July.

All details on the conference, including abstract submission and registration can be found here: http://www.arctic.ac.uk/research/uk-arctic-science-conference-2017/

Any questions can be addressed to arctic@bas.ac.uk in the first instance.

Kind regards,

School Visit in London (Autumn 2017)

Hello all

We have had a request from a primary school based in London, asking for a school visit. They will be learning about Shackleton and the Antarctic in Autumn (oct-dec time), and would love a visit from a scientist/engineer/researcher/mathematician etc.
Travel costs will be covered by the school.

If you are interested in visiting the school, or would like more information, please get in touch with jenon73@bas.ac.uk or education@polarnetwork.org.

Best wishes

UK Antarctic Heritage Trust event

Hello all,

Here at UKPN, we like to help out at other educational events, as well as running our own. We have been asked for some help from the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) for their upcoming outreach event. They are running a Polar Family Fun Day at the National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh on Friday 28th July. They are looking for some volunteers to help out. They are happy to cover travel and food expenses, and will organise accommodation for one night.
If you are interested in helping out, or want some more information, contact Guy Doza from the UKAHT at guy@ukaht.org.

Best wishes
Jenny
