Re: Opportunity to be part of the POLAR 2018 International Scientific Organizing Committee (ISOC)

Dear UKPN,

A clarification—this was supposed to be sent to the UKPN Committee and not to the general listserve—my apologies! (By the by, if you happen to want to be involved with the workings of UKPN, please let us know!).

Dear UKPN,

Please see attached an opportunity for early career researchers to be a part of the Intertnational Scientific Organizing Committee for POLAR 2018 (Davos, Switzerland). As the APECS Representative for ASSW 2017, I can say that this is an excellent opportunity to get to understand how international polar communities work and how things are decided at the top level, and of course, work with a very competent and efficient group of scientists, administrators, and politicians!

Dear APECS ExCom, Council and NC Leaderships,
APECS, the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Scientific Committee of Antarctic Research (SCAR) are pleased to be able to announce a fantastic opportunity for an APECS member to be part of the International Scientific Organizing Committee for POLAR 2018 held in Davos, Switzerland (15 – 27 June, 2018). This conference comprises the 35th SCAR biennial meeting, Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) and the SCAR/IASC Open Science Conference.
The work of the committee will start in summer 2016 so you will need to be able to commit to this position for at least the next 24 months (in the first year around 1 day/ month, in the last year more like 2 day /month). This is a volunteer position representing APECS on the committee without funding associated with it.
If you are interested then please send the following as a single pdf file to info@apecs.is by 15 April 2016.
1) CV (max 2 pages)
2) Statement of interest including:

·       why you wish to be involved in this committee

·       evidence of a broad range of research interests encompassing both polar regions

·       a clear statement of commitment to the work of the committee over the next 24 months and intent to attend POLAR 2018.

Please note that this opportunity is only open to current APECS ExCom, Council and members serving on the leadership of an APECS National Committee.
