School visit - volunteers needed

Dear all,

Are there any polar experts interested in visiting a school in Hoddesdon (Hertfordshire), to do a little bit of outreach? Whether you’ve visited a school in the past or not, this is a great opportunity to tell some of your stories and get young people interested in the polar regions. And if you’re worried about what you would do there, don’t be! We have loads of resources and can point you in the right direction. This will only need a little planning and a morning or afternoon of your time, and can be fitted around your schedule.

The students in this case are in year 3, and have already been part of the Antarctic flags scheme, so they’re very eager to get a visitor who has been to this region. I think meeting real ‘polar experts/scientists’ at this age leaves a lasting impression and can really shape their futures, so this is an important opportunity.

If interested, please reply or email education@polarnetwork.org.

Thanks,

Holly
