APECS Career Development Panel at IGS Fairbanks Symposium

APECS is hosting a career development panel at the IGS Symposium on Glaciers and Ice Sheets in a warming climate in Fairbanks, Alaska and YOU are invited!

Have you ever wondered how best to find your next job or your first post-doc after your PhD? Or have you ever wondered how to balance a successful career in polar and cryospheric research with having a family?

Well now is your opportunity to find out...

Panelists include Suzanne Bevan, of Swansea University, Erin Pettit of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Ross Powell of Northern Illinois University, and Ian Willis of Cambridge University. Each panel member will give a short overview of their career to date and then there will be a discussion session with the opportunity for all attendees to ask questions of our panelists on all matters pertaining to building a successful career in polar or cryospheric research.

The panel discussion will take place on Monday, 25 June 2012 from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Wood Center Ballroom on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Campus - the main presentation hall for the IGS conference. Attendance is open to anyone attending the meeting, but especially graduate students/postgraduate researchers, post-docs and other early career scientists. Sadly, we don't have a budget for any refreshments during the panel but we will be going for drinks, and possibly dinner, at a venue nearby after the session.
