Respond ASAP: Volunteer Opportunity at Nottingham Primary School Parliament Online Event

Hi All,

The Nottingham Primary Parliament for year six students has been in touch seeking an Antarctic scientist to help with their online Zoom event on the 7th and 9th of July. It's organised by Ignite!

These are the details:
  • Kids are split over two sessions, one on the 7th, one on the 9th of July (the Antarctic scientist doesn't have to be the same for both days)
  • They will be physically together in their bubbles - so about six kids together from each school (about four to six schools on each day) and then the schools will be connected to one another via zoom.
  • Day's activities would start with a warm up (potentially origami penguins) followed by an introduction to the day's theme from the organisers (Antarctica and climate).
  • The Antarctic scientist would deliver a 15 to 20 minute presentation at around 10:30am
  • The presentation should include scientific overview of Antarctica, how and why you became a polar researcher, and at the end should set the students an Antarctic/climate themed challenge (developing this content would be supported by the organisers of the event)
  • The kids would go off and complete their challenge, and would present back to councillors at the end of the day
  • They are eager to support a female and/or BAME Antarctic scientist if possible
  • There will be a group of students with physical and learning disabilities attending on the 9th
Ignite! have a meeting on Friday morning to finalise logistical plans and would like to know before Friday morning if we have a/some volunteer/s
