New funding opportunity for UK-based ECRs to attend ASSW in Edinburgh on 21-29 March 2024

Dear UKPN Members,

Please find below the announcement of a new funding opportunity to attend ASSW in Edinburgh on 21-29 March 2024.  Any  ECR's based in UK are eligible - act quickly to apply by 29 January and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Please feel free to pass on to any relevant networks and mailing lists - we hope that this opportunity will support many UK-based polar researchers who were not able to attend otherwise.

The ASSW2024 Organising Committee is pleased to announce the additional funding available to support participation in the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2024 (21 - 29 March 2024, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK) for UK-based early career researchers.

Partial funding is available to cover the travel costs and/or registration fee for attending the ASSW 2024 either on-site or online for:

    • UK-based early career researchers up to 5 years past their final degree (e.g. PhD) with an Arctic research focus. Undergraduate and masters students are also eligible for this funding. Applications are particularly welcome from groups traditionally under-represented in Polar Science, including women, people from racial and ethnic minorities in the UK, LGBTQ+ community and people with a disability.

Successful applicants are invited to attend the 'Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Polar Science - sharing best practice' session on 23 March 2024 (10:30 - 12:30 GMT) focused on sharing best practices from UKPN, Diversity in Polar Science Initiative and elsewhere to increase representation from underrepresented groups and inducing culture change across the Polar Science community.

The application deadline is on 29 January 2024 at 13:00 GMT and recipients will be informed by early February 2024. To apply - please fill in the application form via the link.

Best wishes,

Anna
