Reflections from the field: call for contributions

Hi all,

Please see the below from Reflections from the field, who are compiling poems, stories and sketches from scientists working in the field. Great opportunity to share some personal insight.

Thanks,

UKPN committee

Let's share the lasting yet unpublished creativity of the polar community

in an anthology of "Reflections from the field".

For many in our community, the field season conjures creativity. Those days when you battle against wind and rain to collect that precious sample, nights where stories are shared around the campfire; and the pangs of realization when you see, at first hand, the effect of climate change on your field site.

For some people, these moments are captured as poems, sketches, anecdotes in a diary, or short stories documented in emails and letters. The aim of this new project is to gather this collective experience in a document. This will be shared with our community, used as an education tool to inspire future researchers and provide an important record of present day field experiences.

The upcoming Northern Hemisphere field season provides the perfect time to advertise this idea to you all! We seek contributions towards a pilot anthology. These contributions can be in any language, take any form (poetry, sketches, stories) and follow any fieldwork-related theme. Please send these contributions, and any questions, to: reflectionsfromthefield@gmail.com

Have a beautiful field season.

Reflections from the field Team
