Dear UKPN,
There was a survey sent around about 9 months ago about women's experiences in Polar fieldwork. The outcome of this survey has been recently published as a collaboration between APECS and the journal PLOS Climate.
"Coming in from the cold: Addressing the challenges experienced by women conducting remote polar fieldwork" was written by 7 APECS members, including co-author Ellie Honan from the UKPN leadership team. The paper uses survey data from over 300 women who work in polar science, alongside a literature review. The author team proposes strategies to remove barriers to participation and improve the experiences of women in polar fieldwork. These include individual- and organisational-level strategies for pre, during, and post fieldwork so feel free to share with your organisations/field teams!
