Hello all,
The UK Polar Network recently published the PolarSTEP (Polar Skills Training for Early Career Researchers and Professionals) 2025 Report celebrating the success of the course which took place in November 2025.
We encourage you to read the report here: https://polarnetwork.org/ecr-development/publications/polarstep-2025/
A summary can be found in this blog: https://polarnetwork.org/2026/02/polarstep-report/
Please share it with others in your network and let everyone know why training courses like these are crucial for boosting early career confidence and increasing equity in polar science.
Personally, it was a delight to co-lead this course and a privilege to get to know the participants. I also learnt a great deal myself from fellow instructors, and the participants, through delivery of sessions and supporting logistics. Please take a look at the report for further reflections and participant testimonials too!
Finally, if you know of organisations who are financially healthy and might be interested in funding the next iteration of this course, please point them to training@polarnetwork.org.
Kind regards,
Chloe, on behalf of the PolarSTEP 2025 team
