Dear polar colleagues,
APECS-Brazil is organizing a panel proposal for the first week of COP30, which will take place in Belém, Pará (Brazil). The aim is to engage in dialogue and share knowledge with the public and decision-makers about the importance of the polar regions and high mountain glaciers for Brazil, contributing to research strategies, mitigation, and adaptation efforts.
We currently have two open spots for panelists. We welcome individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, and at different career stages. Participation is not limited to academia—people from the private sector, public institutions, and even the military are encouraged to join.
Unfortunately, we do not have funding available to cover travel costs, so participants will need to secure their own financial support or assistance online. Additionally, it will be difficult to find simultaneous translation, so we encourage scientists who speak and understand portuguese.
