UKPN Training Opportunities and EGU Meetup

Dear all,

EGU Meetup
EGU is next week and we know there will be a strong UKPN presence there. It would be great to meet up with any UKPN members who attending:
  • There will be an APECS splinter meeting/networking session on Monday 15th April 14:00 – 15:45, which UKPN leadership will be attending and will be a good opportunity to meet other UKPN members and the committee.
  • We hope there will also be an opportunity to have a UKPN meet up later in the week, more details to follow.
  • Come and say hello and collect a UKPN sticker if you see me or Connor Shiggins (UKPN presidents) or any of the other committee members during the week.
We look forward to seeing you next week!

Training opportunities
We are currently taking applications to join our polar fieldwork training programme the Clean Planet Peninsula Project 2024!

In its second year, the Clean Planet Foundation in association with the UKPN and UK Polar explorer Antony Junman is running a 3 year program starting in August 2024. We are looking for research students and early-career scientists from diverse backgrounds who have a project or are about to embark on research that requires fieldwork experience in remote areas including polar regions with research topics related to microplastics and their impact on the environment and climate.

Clean Planet Peninsula is exploring and understanding the effects of climate change and microplastics on the Polar regions. Led by Britain's 12th explorer to go solo to the North and South Pole (Antony Jinmann), the Clean Planet Foundation is planning a series of training events and expeditions to the Polar regions to undertake Climate and Microplastic science projects. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey and help create a better future for our planet.

Keep an eye out on our social media and this mailing list for further training opportunities coming soon!

Thanks
